Smeda plans strategy for promotion of pottery industry

The Chief Executive Officer Small and Medium Development Authority
(Smeda) Shahab Anwar Khawaja has said that a strategy is being prepared for the promotion and tracking the pottery industry on modern lines.
Talking to Business Recorder here on Wednesday at local Smeda office he added that under the program the special attention would be focused on resolving the problems of pottery industry of Gujrat on priority basis and remedial measures would be taken for the existence of the pottery industry.
The step has been taken for bringing out the pottery industry from serious crisis as well as the owners of pottery units would be motivated for innovation enabling them to compete the market more easily he added.
He said that Smeda would provide technological support to the business community engaged with the pottery industry.
This technical support would not only bring down the gas consumption by 60 percent but also help improve the output of the pottery units of Gujrat he revealed.
The Smeda is making adequate efforts for resolving the technological, management, and financial and marketing problems of small and medium enterprises of the country he said.
He Smeda said that the basic functions of Smeda are focused on providing and facilitating business development services to small and medium enterprises to individuals as well as at collective level.
The government has decided to formulate a five-year long-term policy for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) of the country and initial work on the preparation of the policy he added.
The step is being taken to resolve the problems and difficulties of SMEs the backbone of the national economy.
