National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW) will appoint 18 members to fill its existing vacant seats, official sources told APP here on Monday.
The vacuum in the commission has been created due to the retirement of its members.
The source said NSCW is currently being run by only two members, including Justice Majida Rizvi (Retd), whereas the commission is required to be comprised 20 members.
Two women from each province would be appointed in the commission. Provinces have been asked to nominate women known for their contribution for the welfare of women after which their final selection would be made. Rest of the seats would be filled by experts on women issues, the source added.
NCSW is currently working on the analysis of Hadood laws besides demanding the government to repeal it.
