Good news coming for university professors

Good news is coming for the university professors in the near future.
If Professor Dr Atta-ur-Rahman, in-charge of the ministry of science and technology, has his say the salary of a full professor at a university would start at Rs 125,000 a month.
The step is being taken to stop our scientists and highly qualified manpower to work abroad and to return to their homeland after completing their studies there. Besides attractive salary, the professors would be provided congenial environment for research and studies.
Speaking at the certificate awarding ceremony of Lindua Laureates interaction, Professor Attaur Rahman said that the hurdles to the Pakistani scholars abroad from serving the homeland were poor salaries and uncongenial environment for research and academic pursuits.
Dr Attaur Rahman added how to retain Pakistani scientists within the country has been a big issue. There was a proposal that scientists should get four times of the salary of ministers.
This was not acceptable, but Dr Attaur Rahman added that his proposal to enhance the salary of full professor to Rs 125,000 per month has been accepted in principle.
He hoped this would be reflected in the new budget.
