Afghanistan has decided to establish 'textile parks' to boost its export and improve its trade relation with the United States.
This was stated by Afghanistan finance minister, Ashraf Ghani, while talking to the Chairman of All Pakistan Textile Mills Association, Waqar Monnoo, in Islamabad.
Monnoo held a meeting with the Afghan minister and discussed the matter of mutual interest.
The minister said that Afghanistan would soon establish two 'textile parks' on the line of 'textile parks' in Jordan. Afghanistan will get concession on custom duty and award special quotas for export of textile products to USA.
The minister said the two parks would be set in Jalalabad and Kandahar. He said that Pakistan would be given priority in the process of reconstruction of Afghanistan for which 5 billion dollars would be spent.
He said that after reconstruction of Afghanistan, trade volume between Pakistan and Afghanistan would reach one billion dollars.
Monnoo informed the minister about the negative impact of recent imposition of custom duty on import of goods from Pakistan into Afghanistan and absence of transit trade policy.
The Afghan minister said that his government would consider the points raised by the Aptma Chairman.
