North West Frontier Province (NWFP) Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani hoped that as the peace and normalcy will return to Afghanistan, the Frontier Province would become an international market.
He was talking to a delegation of expatriate Pakistanis, led by Malik Mushtaq Amir of Jamat Islami Saudi Arabia, at Frontier House Peshawar on Monday.
The Chief Minister said that NWFP offered tremendous investment potential. The provincial government had already decided to streamline these resources as a base for economic prosperity.
He said the services in various sectors had improved. The sick industrial units were being revived and investment was being facilitated.
He said that they had opened up all sectors for investment and the investors were keen to exploit the natural resources of the province.
"We have hydle potential and have asked the entrepreneurs to establish industrial unit and even generate electricity that would be cheep and affordable for running their industrial units and government will lay down necessary infrastructure and provide all facilities to the investors."
The process had been made more transparent, therefore, it was up to the
investors to come and grasp the opportunity, he said.
Durrani said that government had evolved all policies in accordance with the people's aspirations.
He said that they had the backing of the people and were getting headways at multiple fronts.
He called upon the expatriate Pakistanis to invest their hard-earned money in the province and supplement the government's efforts for the overall development.
The delegates apprised the Chief Minister about foreign investment in NWFP. The Chief Minister was told that certain investors were looking forward to invest in various sectors in the province.
The delegates also showed their willingness to establish institutions in health and education sectors for the benefit of the people of the province.
