District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood has constituted a 14-member committee for reorganising and streamlining the affairs of Sunday bazaars.

He was chairing a meeting in his office on Monday, which was attended by DCO Khalid Sultan, Executive District Officer Agriculture Mumtaz Ahmed Awan, Chairman Market Committee Mian Talat Ahmed, and town municipal officers of the six towns of the district.
The District Nazim has also appointed 16 officers of the district revenue department as co-ordinators for these bazaars.
These officers, working as focal persons, would ensure establishing of proper stalls of fruits, vegetables, mutton, beef, poultry and other edible commodities besides discouraging sale of land and other miscellaneous articles whose rates cannot be fixed.
They would also ensure that rate lists were displayed properly, articles were being sold at fixed prices and weight and measures were maintained.
The Nazim directed chairman market committee for arranging supply of good quality food items in abundance directly from farms to these bazaars besides persuading multinationals companies and manufacturers for establishing their sale points in the bazaars.
He also directed for setting up complaint centers in Sunday bazaars and maintaining record of complaints and remarks of general public and dignitaries. He further directed that the complaints of the general public be attended promptly.
He also directed police officers for restricting vehicular movement in the bazaars. The stalls should be properly cordoned off and separate parking stands should be established for the visitors.
He ordered that the entire proceedings should be conducted in an organised and disciplined manner.
Cleanliness should be maintained throughout the day and no unhygienic activity should be allowed within the premises of bazaars.
Five civil defence volunteers should be deputed in each Sunday bazaar for security purposes.
