Punjab Governor, Lieutenant General Khalid Maqbool (Retd) has called for adopting effective procedure after conducting proper research so that people could get proper guidance about physical ailments, and through minimum invasive techniques, recovery could be made possible without undergoing complicated surgery.
He made this observation while inaugurating the SICOT Education Center at King Edward Medical College (KEMC) here on Monday.
'Pakistan is the most fortunate country which is known with reference to its world class surgeons and famous physicians', Khalid said. He was of the view that our medical experts and pharmaceutical companies should jointly chalk out a new method of treatment so that different diseases could be detected at an early stage.
He called for raising public awareness about various diseases.
Talking about the center, he said that SICOT Education Center has been established in collaboration with World Health Organisation (WHO) and International Society for Orthopedics and Traumatology (ISOT) with a cost of Rs 15 million.
The center has been set up to promote new trends in orthopaedic surgery through Internet, which will provide tele-diagnosis about Muscle-Skeletal Disorders, Accidental and Occupational Traumas, Cerebral Palsy and in cases of burns.
Taking advantage of this center, local orthopaedic surgeons would be able to get online consultation with international experts.
International Society for Orthopedics and Traumatology Secretary General Maurice Hinsenkamp, and experts including Charles Sorbie, Rainer Kotz, E-Learning and Dr Meena Nathan Cherian of WHO highlighted the importance of the center.
