A prominent Hurriyat Conference and Muslim League leader, Ghulam Nabi Raja was arrested and subjected to severe torture by occupation forces here and later thrown at a desolate place in semi-dead condition.
According to KMS, the occupation army troops raided the house of Ghulam Nabi Raja alias Jean Nisar Kashmiri who is also a known poet at Kao Mohalla, Srinagar.
Not finding him inside the house the troops took away his aged father Abdus Salam Raja along with his brother Shafi to the torture cell and released them after mercilessly thrashing them.
Later Ghulam Nabi was nabbed from the house of his in-laws and subjected to severe physical torture.
He was found lying in semi-dead condition at a desolate place near Lal Chowk.
