Punjab Institute of Mental Health (PIMH) has decided to introduce internship for fellows of Ph.D in psychology and M.Sc. Psychology, and also training programmes for MBBS students as well as Post Graduate Medical Institutions.
Brigadier Dr Saeed A. Akhtar (Retd), Executive Director PIMH, disclosed this here on Friday. According to him, two students have been enrolled for internship of Ph.D in psychology and six students for M.Sc. in psychology.
The MBBS students would also join internship in the field of psychiatry and short courses in psychiatry had already been conducted for the general practitioners, government medical officers and nurses working in the DHQ and THQ hospitals.
This would help them in handling psychiatric units established in each DHQ hospitals for providing mental healthcare to patients at local level.
