Kenya economy to grow 6pc in 2016, current account deficit to narrow

NAIROBI: Kenya's central bank governor said on Tuesday the economy was expected to expand by 6 percent in 2016 after 5.6 percent growth last year, while the current account deficit was expected to narrow to 5.5 percent of GDP in 2016 from 6.8 pct.

Governor Patrick Njoroge was speaking at a news conference a day after the central bank cut interest rates by 100 basis points to 10.5 percent, saying falling inflation offered room for an easing of monetary policy.
