imageKARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday issued notices to Director General Rangers Sindh and Inspector General Sindh, directing them to submit their respective comments on the petitions seeking whereabouts of missing persons.

SHC bench, headed by Justice Irfan Saadat, was hearing the petitions filed for the recovery of missing persons including junior officer of University of Karachi and student of NED University of Engineering and Technology.

Mst Nilofer, the mother of missing Muhammad Zeeshan, submitted that her son was junior accountant at KU and he was picked up by the Rangers from university's staff town on 15th April. She added that the whereabouts of her son are still unknown.

Separately, Anwar Minhas submitted in the petition that his son Ahmed Minhas, who was a student of NED University has been missing since 18th August 2015. He told the court that he approached the relevant police station but all in vain.

In another petition, Mst Nasreen Bano, submitted that her brother Irshad Ali, a resident of Karachi's Liaqutabad area and a servant of Karachi Water & Sewerage Board, has been missing since 2nd May 2016.

Similarly, Mst Maryam Asif, the wife of missing Asif Iqbal, submitted that her spouse who was a servant in health department, has been missing since 28th April 2016.

The petitioners alleged that their relatives were in the custody of the law enforcers but they are not disclosing his arrest.

Citing DG Rangers Sindh, IGP Sindh and home secretary as respondents, the petitioners prayed the court to direct the respondents to produce the detainees before the court.

After the initial hearing, the court issued notices to deputy attorney general, advocate general Sindh and respondents to file their comments in the next hearings.
