The former Pakistan spinner Abdul Qadir, feels that hiring coaches should be utilized for improving a country's cricketing structure, instead of appointing Inzamam-ul-Haq as Chief Selector instead of making him Pakistan team’s batting coach.
According to local media report, “Pakistan Cricket Board is unable to pick the right man for the right Job”, Qadir told APP. “One can easily see that batting coach’s job would best suited Inzie who has been one of the greatest-ever Pakistani batsmen”.
He said “we all know how the green-shirts performed in the Asia Cup and World Twent20 and where they lagged behind (batting). “I appeal to the PCB Patron in chief to kindly intervene and appoint some cricketer who can run the board in a better way. “If matter won’t be sorted out now then the future of our cricket is not bright,” he said. He said there were many top cricketers in Pakistan who can run the board in a better way than the administrators. “In my view Majid Khan, Javed Miandad and Zaheer Abbas know cricket way better than the administrators,” he said.
Pakistan hasn’t had a successful run in recent times. After a dismal performance in the Asia Cup and the ICC World Twenty20 in India, Waqar Younis, the coach, and Shahid Afridi, the captain, stepped down from their respective position.
Few days back, Abdul Qadir advised the PCB to give total powers to the captain and appoint a manager with him who has a strong cricket background. "Having a coach is a waste of money and nothing else. In cricket there is no need for a coach," Qadir said.
