KARACHI: Five ships C.V Maersk Savanan, M.V Baoyue, M.T Rudolf Schulte, M.T Marangas, M.T Okroye carrying containers, general cargo, palm oil, LNG and furnace oil were berthed at Qasim International Container Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Liquid cargo Terminal and FOTCO oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
Meanwhile four more ships scheduled to load/offload containers, cement and steel also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the same day.
Berth occupancy was observed at the port at sixty seven percent on Wednesday where a total of ten ships namely C.V Maersm Savanah C.V CMA CGM Amazon, M.V An African, M.V Baoyue, M.V Da Yu Xia, M.V Alpha Flame, M.T Rudolf Schulte, M.T Marangas Alexandria, M.T While Puri and M.T Okyro are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, project cargo, canola seeds, palm oil, LNG LPG and furnace oil respectively during last 24 hours.
Cargo handling operation were carried out efficiently at the part where a cargo volume of 115,441 tonnes, comprising 86,445 tonnes imports and 28,996 tonnes exports, inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 3,028 containers (TEUs) (1,711 TEUs imports & 1,317 TEUs exports) was handled during last 24 hours.
Two ships C.V CMA CGM Amzon and M.V Alpha Falme sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while another ship M.T White Puri is expected to sail on same day.
Five ships C.V MSC VIttoria, C.V Suez Canal, C.V OOCL Kobe, M.V Nereus Island and M.V Trans Nanjing carrying containers, steel and canola seeds are expected to take berths at QICT, MW-3, and FAF respectively on Thursday. Wile M.V Crystal Galaxy and M.T Sovereign are due to arrive at Port Qasim on same day and oil tanker 'Malakand' is due to arrive on Friday.
