Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official said on Wednesday that former Australian cricketer Dean Jones is a favourite to join the national team as head coach in May.
According to Indian Express, Dean Jones has in the past applied for the position of Pakistan's coach and said he would love to coach the green shirts.
Dean Jones also recently coached ‘Islamabad United’ in Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Reportedly, PCB has finalized the names for top positions in team management as Mohsin Hasan Khan, Iqbal Qasim and Dean Jones are most likely to be given key roles and Moin Khan has been ruled out for any key post. However, former Aussie batsman Tom Moody has also been named by few experts to assume the post of the national team’s coach.
Earlier, PCB chairman Shahryar Khan revealed that national cricket team’s new head coach will be appointed by the first week of May. The PCB had appointed former Test cricketers Wasim Akram and Ramiz Raja to help find the best possible coach for the national cricket team.
The new coach will lead the team to England in July as his first assignment.
