imageGHENT: Britain's path to the country's first Davis Cup title in 79 years:-

First round in Glasgow (hardcourt)

Britain 3 United States 2

Andy Murray wins both singles, while the Bryan brothers keep US hopes alive in the doubles. But in what was arguably the crucial rubber in the entire campaign, James Ward battles back from two sets down to defeat the heavily favoured John Isner 15-13 in the fifth set in the second of the opening singles.

Quarter-finals

Britain 3 France 1 at Queens Club, London (grass)

The opening day finished level at 1-1 after Gilles Simon beat Ward and Andy Murray defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. The Murray brothers then took a crucial doubles tie allowing a weary Andy Murray to clinch victory in four sets over Simon.

Semi-finals

Britain 3 Australia 2 in Glasgow (hardcourt)

In what turned out to be a near carbon copy of the France tie, Murray won to start with but Dan Evans lost to Bernard Tomic before the Murrays again combined brilliantly to defeat Lleyton Hewitt and Sam Groth in five sets in the doubles. Andy Murray then swept aside Tomic for the win

Final

Britain 3 Belgium 1 in Ghent (Indoors clay)

David Goffin gave Belgian the lead, coming back from two sets down to defeat Kyle Edmund in five sets. But once again Murray levelled and then combined with brother Jamie for a 2-1 lead. He then clinched the Davis Cup for Britain with a win over Goffin in the first of the reverse singles.
