Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan spoke about issues that have been making headlines for the past few days. After, Shahrukh Khan's controversial statement on growing intolerance in India. Several Bollywood celebrities came out in support of Shahrukh Khan including leaders from parties like Shiv Sena, BJP and Congress besides film personalities.
Actor Riteish Deshmukh said, "What has happened to Shahrukh is unfortunate. I have seen the interview. I feel people are taking advantage of his statement and making it an issue,"
Filmmaker Sudhir Mishra said, "He (Shahrukh) is a big actor. He is an icon. He talks things softly. It is important to listen to him. He needs to be listened and not abused”.
Director Zoya Akhtar support to Khan, said, "It's silly that he has to prove his credentials. He is a huge artist. He has billions of people supporting him. He is ok...he is fine”.
Actress Esha Gupta said, "He is an Indian actor who represents India internationally. One should not look into religious things".
Actor Salman Khan's statement came just a day after Shahrukh’s controversy statement Salman said, "I opened Being Human... We don't go asking people, who they are and where they are from. I don't believe in this at all. I believe if I am working with Sonam, she is working with me... I am answering your question, you all are here and I am sure you are from different beliefs and we all are under one roof then why create it? Don't create it”.
Actress Sonam also expressed, "Anything that is intolerant or that is said without complete evidence is unacceptable, so people just saying things in the name of religion, class, creed is disgusting and I think we should rest what we have to say at that point”.
Indian actor Anupam Kher said there was nothing worse than religious intolerance and that it would take India to the dark ages. Kher blasted the controversial statements made by some of the BJP leaders against Shahrukh. “Some (BJP) members really need to control their tongue and stop talking rubbish about Shahrukh,” he said. “He (Shahrukh) is a national icon and we are proud of him,” he tweeted.
However, many controversial leaders remarked against the actor, asking him to go and settle in Pakistan, the Shiv Sena backed the actor saying that he should not be targeted because he is a Muslim. Now, that's wow! No one expected Shiv Sena of all the people in India to be backing Shahrukh Khan especially since it is they who want Pakistani actors to be banned from Maharashtra.
