After four months behind bars and many court appearances, Ayyan Ali has finally been granted bail by the Lahore High Court after two previous unsuccessful petitions. Supermodel Ayyan Ali is likely to be released today (Thursday) anytime soon.
Banking court judge Sabir Sultan has now signed the documents of her release after Ayyan Ali was forced to spend another day in Adiala Jail on Wednesday.
According to local media reports, the court has accepted the surety bonds submitted on behalf of Ayyan Ali and ordered release of model in the currency smuggling case. Sources also revealed that court’s written order about Ayyan release would be received by Jail administration very soon.
The popular Pakistani model was arrested on March 14 from Islamabad’s international airport on charges of money laundering after being caught by customs officials with over half a million dollars in her luggage while boarding a flight to Dubai. However, she dismissed the reports and claimed that she wasn’t boarding the plane to Dubai instead, giving the caught amount to her brother.
The manner in which she was kept in jail under the judicial remand on suspicion of a crime and now this immediate bail just before Eid has raised some uncomfortable questions.
