imageISLAMABAD: Chief Executive Officer of Trade Development Authority (TDAP) S.M Muneer here called upon member states of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) for developing pro-youth policies to increase opportunities of education and employment for the youth to prohibit of the brain drain from the region.

Addressing a seminar on "Youth and entrepreneurship challenges and prospects in South Asia", he said that Pakistan youth was blessed with enormous potential and second to non in the world.

The event was organized by SAARC Chember of Commerce and Industry (CCI) with an aim to create awareness among the stakeholder to engage the youth in economic development activities for socio-economic uplift of the country.

The CEO said that government had a vision for youth empowerment and focus was on youth development and its engagement with national development.

Prime Minister Youth Programme, he said had been initiated with an aim to create a support system for youth led enterprises with economic, social and environmental business objectives and ensure youth participation at all country level.

The CEO, TDAP further said that the other objective of the programme was to support bilateral and multilateral policy making forums and consistency in policies to promote youth development in the country.

S.M Muneer also called for creating opportunities within and outside school for youth to develop a basic set of knowledge, skills and attitude to lead themselves.

He also called upon the youth for fostering the environment and come forward and use their talent for action and to create more employment opportunities to transform country into a leading nations of the world.

He appreciated the role of SAARC CCI for organizing the event to create awareness among the stakeholder for empowering the future of nation.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice President SAARC CCI, Iftikhar Ali Malik said that country had a huge population consisting of youth age ranging from 15-20 years which, he said was a demographic dividend for the country's prosperity.

He informed that according to a World Bank report, the country has about 59 million youth aging between 15-20 and it could be turned into an asset by providing them proper education and skill training.

He also urged the youth for taking advantage of the business opportunities existing in different sectors of economy including agriculture sector, livestock and others.

He urged the government to provide special incentives for youth to establish their own business to engage them in positive activities for socio-economic uplift of the country.

Among others, Secretary General SAARC CCI Muhammad Iqbal Tabish, Associate Dean, Corporate Linkage MAJU, Ansar Rajput and Member Parliament, Asad Umer also speak on the occasion.
