imageISLAMABAD: The weekly inflation for the week ended on April 30 for the lowest income group up to Rs 8,000 witnessed a decrease of 0.04 percent as compared to the previous week.

The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week under review in the above mentioned group was recorded at 200.55 points against 200.63 points registered in the previous week, according to data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

The weekly SPI has been computed with base 2007-2008=100, covering 17 urban centers and 53 essential items for all income groups and combined.

Meanwhile, the SPI for the combined income group was increased by 0.04 percent as it went up from 208.30 points in the previous week to 208.38 points in the week under review.

Similarly, as compared to the corresponding week of last year, the SPI for the combined group in the week under review decreased by 0.44 percent.

As compared to the last week, the SPI for the income group of Rs 8001-12,000 witnessed no change while the SPI for the income group from Rs 12,001-18,000 and 18,001-35,000 and above Rs 35000 increased by 0.02 percent, 0.05 percent and 0.08 percent respectively.

During the week under review average prices of 14 items registered decrease, while that of 09 items increase with the remaining 30 items' prices unchanged.

The items which registered decrease in their prices during the week under review included chicken farm (live), pulse gram (washed), bananas, pulse mash (washed), gur, tea, sugar, pulse masoor (washed), potatoes, pulse moong (washed), red chilly (powder), mutton, milk fresh and

vegetable ghee.

The items which recorded increase in their average prices included eggs (farm), tomatoes, wheat, onions, wheat flour, garlic, rice basmati (broken), LPG cylinder (11 kg) and mustard oil.

The items with no change in their average prices during the week under review included rice irri-6, bread plain, beef, curd, powdered milk, cooking oil, vegetable ghee (tin), salt powder, cooked beef, cooked pulse, tea prepared, cigarettes, long cloth, shirting, lawn printed, georgette, gents sandal, gents chappal, ladies sandal, electricity charges, gas charges, fire wood, kerosene oil, electric bulb, washing soap, match box, petrol, hi-speed diesel, telephone call charges and bath saop.
