KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has expressed concern over increasing numbers of Hepatitis-B&C patients and lack of liver transplantation facilities in the province.
He announced the funding of Rs 50 million to the management of Dr Zia-uddin Medical University Karachi for establishment of "Liver Transplantation Hospital" and called upon other entities in the medical field in private sector to come forward and establish efficient, modern health facilities to provide better care and cure of liver deceases or its transplantation on economical rates.
Addressing the annual convocation of Dr Ziauddin Medical University as chief guest here on Wednesday, he said that his government has already engaged some reputable health organisations to establish Liver Transplantation Hospital in the city but the government wants to increase such facilities in other parts of the province.
He asked Dr Ziauddin University to establish Liver Transplantation Hospital for which initially Sindh Government is ready to provide Rs 50 million and will provide additional amount as the work will be started.
He said that his government took keen interest in providing health care facilities to the masses and not only inducted 1500 doctors but process for appointment of 700 more doctors on merit is underway.
He said that PPP government has also appointed more than 75 doctors at District Tharparker in addition to transfer of many other specialist doctors there.
Congratulating the successful medical graduates the Chief Minister asked them to serve people with dedication and honesty and take special care of poor patients.
