LONDON: The dollar fell broadly on Tuesday, hitting a fresh all-time low against the safe-haven Swiss franc and also dipping against the euro as investors fretted US politicians would fail to reach a compromise on deadlocked debt talks and trigger a default.
The greenback slumped to 0.7997 francs on trading platform EBS, while the euro rose 1 percent on the day to a high of $1.4522.
