imageWARSAW: Poland's unemployment rate is likely to rise by 0.4 percentage points next month, as fixed-term contracts expire at the end of the year, Deputy Labour Minister Jacek Mecina said on Monday.

"We expect December and January to be the worst months, as many temporary contracts end, and companies terminate employment," Mecina told reporters. He said he expected the jobless rate to stabilise in February and March.

Earlier on Monday the ministry said that Poland's jobless rate rose to 11.4 percent in November, up from 11.3 percent the month before.
