Power shortfall jumps to 5,995 MW
ISLAMABAD: The power shortfall on Wednesday again jumped to 5,995 MW, forcing Pakistan Electric Supply Company (PEPCO) to observe 8 and 12 hours loadshedding in urban and rural areas, respectively.
According to daily power generation report, the power generation was recorded 12,852 MW against the total demand of 18,847 MW during the last 24 hours.
The hydel generation stood at 5,224 MW, WAPDA thermal 1,793 MW, IPPs 5,636 MW and Rental 199 MW.
As many as 720 MW was supplied to Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC), the report further said.
Meanwhile, the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has also increased power loadshedding duration in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, while unscheduled load-management was also being carried out.
The water level at Tarbela and Mangla dams was recorded at 1449.30 feet and 1191.80 feet with water discharge of 140,000 cusecs and 15,000 cusecs, respectively.
