According to the Times of India Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt says she wants to carve out her own identity in the industry, rather than being recognized as ‘Mahesh Bhatt’s daughter’.

Alia, who made her Bollywood debut with Karan Johar’s ‘Student of the Year’, has been highly-praised, by critics and fans alike, for her performance in Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Highway’.

However, the 21-year-old actress feels she still has to go a long way to make a name for herself in the industry.

"I do want to create my own identity. I only want to be a good actor. Though people talk so highly about me after seeing my performance in Highway, I still remember the time when my first film released and people would say that she won't go long and is not a good actor. It really pained me, but no amount of success or failure will change me ever,” The Times of India quoted Bhatt as saying.

“I don't think I have managed to make a mark, and I am still known as Mahesh Bhatt's daughter. But I am sure that one day he will be known as Alia Bhatt's father."

The actress will next be seen in romantic comedy ‘2 States’, co-starring Arjun Kapoor. The film is directed by Abhishek Varman and produced by Karan Johar. It is slated to release on April 18th, 2014.
