ISLAMABAD: Analyst Benish Sultana has said that Pakistan can play positive role in the reconciliation process in Afghanistan.
Talking to Radio Pakistan, she said peace and stability are the important ingredients in the political and economic stability of any country. Pakistan is itself confronting terrorism and it has to play its role for itself and as well as for Afghanistan also.
Regarding the situation in Afghanistan, she said that peace and security should be restored first and then political and economic stability would come slowly and gradually.
Regarding security agreement between Afghanistan and United States, she said that if the Afghan government signs the agreement, some of the US soldiers would stay in the country which is likely to bring stability. However, if that agreement would not sign, the situation would further deteriorate and it will have affects upon the entire region.
Sultana said that al Qeada and Taliban have extremists approach, adding that they want to come into power in Afghanistan with full control.
