KARACHI: Sindh Governor, Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan, here on Thursday formally inaugurated the track of Water Pump and Aisha Manzil flyovers.
Administrator Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), Saqib Soomro Metropolitan Commissioner, Samiuddin Siddiqui, Deputy Commissioner Karachi Central, Saif-ur-Rehman, and Director General Engineering Department KMC, Niaz Ahmed Soomro, were also present.
The Governor cut the ribbon to inaugurate the track of the flyovers, leading from Sohrab Goth to Tin Hatti.
He said that the work be speeded up and that the complete flyovers be opened for the traffic by January 2014.
Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan said that this would help improve the flow of traffic and that the people would benefit from the facility besides overcoming the problem of traffic jams.
Saqib Soomro informed that the length of Water Pump and Aisha Manzil flyovers is 500 metres each and their cost is Rs 400 million each.
He further informed that space has also been allocated for the mass transit project.
The Governor also visited Nazimabad No. 7 and inspected the U- turn beneath the bridge for the redesigning of the traffic.
He also asked the concerned officials for draining out the rain water accumulated as a result of Thursday's downpour in the metropolis.
Dr. Ishrat-ul- Ebad Khan also directed the DIG Traffic to improve the traffic management.
