electricityISLAMABAD: The electricity shortfall in the country on Saturday further plunged to 2,580 from 2,730 MW as the total power generation was recorded as 12,452 MW against the demand of 15,032 MW during the last 24 hours.

According to the brief on daily power generation and load-management position, the hydel generation stood at 4,711 MW,WAPDA thermal 1,714 MW, IPPs 5,959 MW and Rental 68 MW.

As many as 720 MW was supplied to Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC), the report further said.

The hydel generation has witnessed sharp increase owing to improved water level in mega reservoirs.

The water level in Tarbela and Mangla dams was recorded as 1408.20 feet and 1135.95 feet with water discharge of 60,000 cusecs and 45,000 cusecs respectively.

The power demand also declined owing to rainy spell.
