ISLAMABAD: Former skipper Younis Khan has said that a long well-organized domestic Twenty20 league can help revive international cricket in the country.
Talking to a private news channel, Younis Khan said a longer league in Pakistan would give out a positive message to the world. Such a league will also help new talent, he added.
To a question about T-20 Ramazan tournament, Younis said the tournament had again proved that Pakistan can produce some best cricketers in future. The Pakistan Cricket Board should organize more leagues in the country, he added.
"It was a good experience playing in such a tournament that lasted for three weeks. I think the people also enjoyed it. But there is a need to have a longer T20 league on the lines of the IPL," Younis said.
He hoped a proper T20 league would not only produce superstars for Pakistan, but also bring back international cricket.
"It is a tragedy that we have not had any international cricket in the country for the last four years and it has hurt the progress of our cricket," he said.
"But this could be a way to convince the world to come and play in Pakistan. It could be a way to attract overseas players," he added.
Younis Khan-led Habib Bank won the exciting final decided in the super over. It was the first-ever T20 Ramazan tournament for departments and banks affiliated with the PCB.
