CM Sindh meets with delegation of diplomats
KARACHI: A 17-member delegation of diplomats of various countries Thursday had a meeting with Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, at the CM House here.
The delegation was led by Ambassador of Argentina and Dean of the diplomatic Corps in Pakistan, Rodolfo Martin Saravia.
The Chief Minister while welcoming the diplomats apprised them about historical, social and cultural background of the province.
He said that the province is agriculture oriented and dependable on rural economy with huge natural resources and manpower.
Qaim Ali Shah said that Karachi is not only the capital of the province but also the biggest and thickly populated city of Pakistan, thus there are numerous problems faced by the people.
He said that the province is facing law and order, economic, health and education problems.
Chief Minister stated that this is the first time in history of democracy of Pakistan that the present government is completing its constitutional tenure of five years.
He added that we have respect for judiciary and have always pledged that every institution should work under the provisions of constitution and should not interfere in affairs of any other institution.
Regarding a question about conduct of elections, Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that General Elections will be held on scheduled time as envisaged in the Constitution after completion of tenure while the coalition partners of the present government have already agreed to dissolve assemblies on or before March 15 this year.
He added that the elections will be held on time and also hoped that world community will also support the present elected government in its endeavour to hold free, fair, transparent and impartial elections in the country.
Chief Minister added that criminal and anti-human elements are involved in bomb blasts and killings etc.
He said that the police and the law enforcement agencies have been directed to effectively curb such activities and keep a vigilant eye to protect the lives and property of the people.
Chief Minister also presented shield of the CM House to the leader of diplomats' delegation and Ajraks and Sindhi Caps to the male diplomats and shawls to the ladies.
