ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has disposed of 171 cases whereas 172 new cases have been instituted during the period from Saturday - December 22 to 28, 2012.
The backlog remained 20143, according to official record of the Supreme Court.
The backlog in the Apex Court on December 22, 2012 was 20142 cases. As 172 new cases were instituted during the period from Saturday December 22 to 28, 2012, the progressive total of pending cases as on December 28, 2012 came to 20314 cases.
Out of these, 171 cases were disposed of during the period from Monday to Friday(December 24 to 28, 2012), the backlog remained 20143 cases.
According to relevant office, the Judges of Supreme Court were on winter vacations, however, only two Benches of the Apex Court worked one at Principal Seat (Islamabad) and one at Karachi Registry during the winter vacations.
