Twitter releases its Instagram-like photo filters

KARACHI: Photo sharing application Instagram announced on Sunday that they are shutting off the Twitter feature which allowed users to view Instagram photos on Twitter. But in order to fill Instagram’s space Twitter has launched its own photo filters.

Twitter updated its Android and iPhone apps with features that allow users to add filters to photos directly from the app instead of doing it through Instagram.

According to latest media reports, there are eight filters including Warm, Cool, Vintage, Happy and Cinematic among others. There are auto-adjust and cropping functions, as well as a helpful grid view that lets users see what each filter will look like at once.

On the other hand, Instagram also released an update for its iOS app today, which adds the ability to crop and scale photos.

The direct competition between Twitter and Facebook (which owns Instagram now) is becoming a challenge for both brands. Previously, users who shared an Instagram photo on Twitter would appear in the expanded tweet but from Sunday that image has been replaced with a link to the photo that redirects users to the Instagram’s website.

The twitter app is available now in the Google Play store and will be coming soon to Apple’s App store.
