TynoLAHORE: Chief Minister's Advisor on Health, Khawaja Salman Rafiq said on Saturday that undue harassment and victimization of Reko Pharma management would not be tolerated till investigations fixed the responsibility.

Speaking at Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry, he said that four illegal factories that were making spurious medicine had also been unearthed, adding, all aspects would be taken into consideration as medicines reaching the retailers after passing through a number of people and involvement of any of them could not be ruled out.

He also announced formation of a committee including three pharma industry members and Provincial Secretary Health, which hold a meeting today (Sunday) to finalize future strategy to the 'Tyno' Syrup issue. The findings of the committee would be shared with media but media trial of this large industry would not be allowed, he added.

He said that test reports were awaited as the reports received so far were clear and there was no poisonous content was found.

On this occasion, the LCCI President Farooq Iftikhar said that it was the responsibility of the government to take immediate measures for the damage control as Reko pharma has been working for the last 50 years honestly and with dedication.

"M/s. Reko pharma are manufacturers of over 100 medicines and have never had any quality issue till todate," he maintained. He urged the Punjab government to go deeper into the issue and unfold the conspiracy against this industry.

While, Khawaja Shahzeb Akram and Amjad Ali Jawa from the PPMA said that drug inspectors were unduly harassing the pharma manufacturers and they should be immediately stopped from doing so.
