  • Justice Minallah hoped that both ministers will refrain from passing irresponsible statements in future.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) took back on Monday the contempt of court notices against Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information (SAPM) Firdous Ashiq Awan and Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan.

During the hearing taken up by IHC Chief Justice Justice Athar Minallah, both the SAPM and the aviation minister submitted their written apologies in the case. The chief justice appreciated the aviation minister for admitting in his apology that he made a political statement, local media reported.

Justice Minallah said that both the ministers are responsible and given their high posts, any statements they make can affect public's trust on the institutions. The IHC justice said that he hopes they will both refrain from giving irresponsible statements and instead work on people's trust in the institutions.

The IHC has accepted the Awan and Sarwar's apologies and announced taking back the contempt of court notice.
