With the logo-'Kashmir Baney Ga Pakistan,' the 72nd Independence Day of Pakistan is being marked on Wednesday (today) with a resolve to safeguard the country against any threat and make it a welfare state as envisioned by the founding father Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The day will dawn with 31-gun salute in the federal and 21-gun salute in the provincial capitals. After the Fajar prayers, special prayers will be offered for the prosperity, integrity and solidarity of the country and success of the long drawn struggle of Kashmiris who are facing Indian oppression. The national flag will be hoisted at all important buildings to celebrate the day in a befitting manner.
Prime Minister Imran Khan will address the Legislative Assembly of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. The PM will also meet the Kashmiri leaders. Flag-hoisting ceremonies will also be held at federal, provincial, district headquarters and other important national institutions. Radio Pakistan will broadcast a special day-long transmission on the Independence Anniversary.
Public and private buildings, roads and avenues have been decorated with illuminations, national flags, portraits of the national leaders, banners and buntings, to give a festive look.
A host of events including seminars, conferences, lectures, debates, speech contests, exhibitions, quiz competitions, stage dramas and mushairas have been arranged by different organizations in connection with the day. Law-Enforcing agencies have finalized security plan in connection with the day. Traffic Police has also made arrangements for smooth flow of traffic.
Vendors have set up stalls of buntings, national flags, banners, badges and pictures of national heroes. Special dresses of boys and girls made of green and white colours resembling national flag are also on sale. The provincial and district governments as well as educational institutions and art councils have also planned a series of events in connection with Independence Day. In Lahore, the flag hoisting ceremony will be held at Hazoori Bagh. Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar will be the chief Guest. On this occasion, school children will present national songs and tableaus.
