Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that elements staging sit-ins have hatched an evil conspiracy to hamper the process of national development and prosperity and the people of the country have seen their real faces. He said "sit-ins have met their political death and the nation has known who is serving the country selflessly and who is engaged in politics of chaos." He said masses would not allow the nefarious designs of the enemies of progress and development to succeed. He said there was a need for a new spirit, determination and commitment to make up the losses caused by sit-ins.
He was talking to elected representatives belonging to different districts who met him, here on Tuesday. They included Obaid Ullah Khan Shadikhel MNA, Amanat Ullah Khan Shadikhel MPA, former MPA Ali Noor Khan Niazi, Sheikh Ijaz Ahmed MPA, Rana Shoaib Idrees Khan MPA from Faisalabad, Comrade Mian Muhammad Rafique MPA from Toba Tek Singh, and Muhammad Azam Chaila MPA from Jhang.
The CM said Pakistan Muslim League-N government was implementing a comprehensive programme for the welfare and uplift of the people of the province and development projects aimed at provision of basic amenities to the masses were being completed expeditiously. He said the process of public service was continuing and Punjab would be made an exemplary province with regard to development and prosperity. He said a corruption-free culture had been promoted in the province.
He said an effective monitoring system had been evolved for the implementation of development projects in a transparent manner so as to check wastage of public money. Shahbaz said Punjab government was introducing revolutionary reforms for the development of education, health and other social sectors. He said that target of increase in growth rate had been fixed to raise the living standard of the people and special attention was being paid to the uplift of backward areas.
He said more resources had been allocated for South Punjab districts than the ratio of their population. He said reforms were also been introduced for improving efficiency of provincial departments and provision of better services to the masses while information technology was also being used for that purpose.
He said speedy efforts were needed for the improvement of education and health sectors, maintenance of law and order, supply of potable water and implementation of development projects. He said performance of every department would be monitored and they should fix their targets and work efficiently for their achievement.
He said that untimely sit-ins had caused a heavy loss to the country and 18 crore people of Pakistan would never forgive the elements engaged in such activities. He said that every effort was being made under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to steer the country out of crises and the government will come up to the expectations of the people of the country at every cost. He stressed upon elected representatives to personally supervise development projects in their respective areas and spare no effort for the service of the masses.
