Directorate General of Intelligence & Investigation-FBR, Regional Office, Quetta on Monday claimed to have seized 17 tankers carrying 0.5 million liters of smuggled Iranian diesel near Sabzar in Panjgoor, Balochistan. This was stated by Muhammad Iqbal Bhawana Director, Customs Intelligence, Quetta along with Inamullah Wazir, Assistant Director, Customs Intelligence Quetta at a press briefing held at Customs Intelligence, Karachi office.
He said that Customs Intelligence, Quetta on the directives of Lutfullah Virk, Director General, Customs Intelligence & Investigation-FBR, Islamabad, mounted surveillance to check illegal trafficking of Iranian origin POL products on May 31 2014. At the midnight of May 31 and June, 1 2014, 17 tankers carrying smuggled Iranian diesel coming from Iran was intercepted near Sabzar in Panjgoor, Balochistan by the Customs Intelligence Quetta with the assistance of the Frontier Corps. He said that the drivers of the tankers and persons escorting a convey managed to escape from the scene while tankers were brought to the FC premises in Panjgoor. He said that approximately 0.5 million liters diesel had been seized during said exercise.
