French Trade Minister Francois Loos held talks on Saturday with Libyan leaders about possible co-operation in oil, tourism, water and electricity projects, a senior Lebanese official in Tripoli said.
"We discussed joint projects in the oil, tourism, electricity and desalination sectors," Libyan Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammad Sayala told reporters.
Economic reconstruction and privatisation projects in Libya, after years of isolation induced by international sanctions, were also discussed with the French delegation, Sayala added.
Loos arrived here Friday for a visit that the French government said signalled a re-launch of economic ties between the two countries.
In January, Libya reached a compensation deal with the French government for relatives of those killed in the 1989 bombing of a French airliner.
The attack, blamed on Libya, lifted the last obstacle to a normalisation of relations between Paris and Tripoli. Trade minister Loos is accompanied by a delegation of representatives from 70 French companies and is to stay in Libya until Monday.
He is scheduled to meet Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi and his prime minister, Shukri Ghanem, during his stay.
Since Kadhafi last year renounced programmes that could lead to the acquisition of weapons of mass destruction, Washington has also allowed US firms with pre-sanction holdings in Libya to resume business there.
