We have heard about smartphone replacing car keys in the future, they have already become the next credit card and now they will help cleaning our teeth.
Well this is not your regular smart toothbrushes that are connected to apps. This time it’s different, Onvi, a company specializing in dental technology has devised a toothbrush that helps you see the inner working of your mouth.
According to Venture Beat, ‘Prophix,’ the smart toothbrush has a video camera attached to it, which shows you a view of the inside of your mouth when using the brush. Then it transmits the video to an app on your smartphone. This can help to see if you are hitting all the right spots.
“As I used intraoral cameras and monitors to treat my patients, I saw how it helped them to better understand the status of their oral health, and in turn, adopt better cleaning habits,” said Craig Kohler, founder and CEO of Onvi, in a statement.
According to CNBC, oral health issues are quite common, said Kohler, himself a practicing dentist said people tend to always brush in the same places and miss others. If the problem is not discovered on time it requires a crown or root canal, which is quite expensive for many patients.
The toothbrush allows you to take snapshots of your teeth with the camera and then compare them over time to see if dental hygiene is improving or not.
The advanced toothbrush is currently available for preorder at a discounted price of $300, whereas shipments would begin in the first quarter of 2017.
