As the tech world continues to explore untouched avenues, Google has been carefully piling up its virtual reality (VR) arsenal.
One of the biggest companies on the globe Google has announced the launch of Daydream, a virtual reality platform, and is all set to launch it big ‘Android’ big.
"Our intention is to operate at Android scale, meaning hundreds of millions of users," said senior product manager Brahim Elbouchikhi at the Google I/O developers conference. "In a couple of years, we will have hundreds of millions of users on Daydream devices."
Daydream, an Android-based virtual reality is unlike Google’s previous VR initiative i.e. Cardboard.
As per reports the Daydream’s apps will run only on new phones, which have been certified by Google, all of this is because Google wants a VR platform that doesn’t only introduces people to virtual reality but makes them want to stick to it.
As per The Verge, Google has also launched a website for developers. The site features creators of games and apps for both Daydream and Cardboard, Google’s low-end VR platform. However both of these platforms would produce different kinds of apps .
"Cardboard apps were about fun, snackable, short experiences, largely non-interactive," said Elbouchikhi. "Daydream apps are quite the opposite. They're about immersive content, longform, highly interactive," he added.
