The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has launched an official application to counter the fake currency notes while increase public awareness about the security features of Pakistani Banknotes.
According to local media reports, the application ‘Pakistan Banknotes’ operates when a user selects the desired banknote image and the app will reveal the security features of the Pakistani currency.
The app which is available on both Google Play and iTunes contains information about Pakistani Banknotes in both English and Urdu language.
Users can select the rupee denomination from the app and see pictures that detail the unique security safeguards built-in in the rupee note. Denominations include PKR 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, 1000 and 5000 notes.
SBP latest move to take help of the latest technology, coincide with the increase in number of money counterfeiting cases. Just days ago police arrested seven people involved in the illicit business of producing fake currency and seized a huge amount including US dollars and UAE Dirhams during a raid on a factory in the eastern city of Lahore.
