The Supreme Court of India on Friday issued a legal notice to actress Dimple Kapadia, her daughter Twinkle Khanna and her son-in-law actor Akshay Kumar on a petition by Anita Advani seeking restoration of her complaint of being subjected to domestic violence subsequent to the death of yesteryear's film star Rajesh Khanna.
Anita Advani was in a live-in relationship with film star Rajesh Khanna when she was thrown out from Khanna’s Carter Road bungalow ‘Aashirwad’ after his death.
According to Indian media reports, Advani’s counsel’s senior lawyers C A Sundaram and Jatin Zaveri, criticized the Bombay High Court order for dismissing Advani's complaint lodged against the three actors under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act.
Senior counsel C A Sundaram, told the court that his client had been living with Mr Khanna for 25 years after his actress wife Dimple Kapadia separated from him. An apex court bench headed by Chief Justice H.L. Dattu issued notice on Advani's plea challenging a Bombay High Court order quashing her complaint of domestic violence against Kapadia and others, Indian Express reported.
