imageISLAMABAD: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) on Thursday withdrew their de-seating motions moved against lawmakers of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) last week in the National Assembly.

Movers of the motions Salman Khan Baloch of MQM and Naeema Kishwer Khan of JUI-F announced to withdraw the motions, under rule 44 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly. The Parliamentarians welcomed the withdrawal of the motions by thumping desks.

All parliamentary parties, specially the main opposition party Pakistan Peoples Party and the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, had requested the two parties to withdraw their motions to strengthen democratic norms in the country.

Earlier, the House unanimously adopted a motion moved by JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, renewing the resolve that it was the symbol of supremacy of Allah Almighty, rule of the Constitution and democracy.

The motion paid tributes to all political parties, Members of the Parliament, national media and people of Pakistan who played historic role for sanctity of the Constitution, democracy and the Parliament in the hour of need.

The motion said it was binding on each and every Pakistani especially parliamentary parties, having public mandate, to give full respect to this House.

The House renews the pledge to work for supremacy of the Constitution, Parliament and it would not allow anyone to affect democratic image of the country, the motion said.

Earlier, Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq suspended other business of the House to take up motion of JUI-F chief.
