While most of the countries (except Australia) are still trying to forget recent World Cup defeat, another cricket event is about to start from April 8, 2015. The 2015 season of the Indian Premier League (Pepsi IPL 2015) is the eighth season of the IPL and will kick start with the grand opening ceremony on Tuesday, April 7.
Bollywood stars including Hrithik Roshan, Anushka Sharma, Shahid Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Farhan Akhtar will open the event in their typical Bollywood style.
According to Indian media reports, the two-hour inaugural ceremony aims to charm the audience with a festive feel and includes a special segment dedicated to defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Around 400 performers (including 300 locals) will be involved in the stellar opener choreographed by Remo D'Souza and Santosh Shetty that will see eight-to-ten-minute performances by Hrithik, Shahid and Anushka on a mash-up of popular Bollywood dance tracks.
All eight team captains will be present to take the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) Spirit of Cricket pledge. Gautam Gambhir, captain of defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders co-owned by Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla, will put the trophy back in play, signalling the start of the 2015 season.
The opening ceremony will be hosted by ‘Nawab of Bollywood’ Saif Ali Khan, and will be telecast live on Indian TV channel Sony Max.
