imageJOHANNESBURG: Bottom club AmaZulu sprang one of the shocks of the South African Premiership season Sunday with a 5-2 triumph at mid-table SuperSport United.

It was only the second win in 20 league matches for the Durban outfit, who are six points adrift of second-last Platinum Stars and have played one game more.

Equally remarkable was the five goals scored by the visitors to Lucas 'Masterpieces' Moripe Stadium in Pretoria as they began the day with an average of 0.73 per game.

AmaZulu fell behind after only two minutes to a goal from New Zealand striker Jeremy Brockie -- his third in as many matches since moving to South Africa from Canadian club Toronto FC.

But by the hour it was 3-2 for AmaZulu and official man of the match Goodman Dlamini then struck twice within seven minutes to clinch maximum points.

"We have a mountain to climb and this is a small step in the right direction," said Steve Barker, the third coach of AmaZulu this season.

SuperSport handler Gordon Igesund did not hide his embarrassment: "The marking was terrible -- definitely our worst performance this season."

Orlando Pirates continued good recent form and moved within two points of joint second sides Mamelodi Sundowns and Wits by winning 3-1 against top-half Polokwane City in Soweto.

Pretoria University are another side on song, stretching an unbeaten run to seven games through a 2-1 home victory over Mpumalanga Black Aces.

Leaders Kaizer Chiefs, Sundowns and Wits did not play because of CAF competition commitments.
