imageKARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that the localities where public and private schools are located have been declared as sensitive areas.

These areas would have special security arrangements, he said while talking to media at St. Michael School, Boat Basin just after visiting a number of schools opened Monday morning after winter vacation. He was accompanied by Senior Minister for Education Nisar Ahmed Khuhro.

The Chief Minister said that a comprehensive security plan has been evolved for the security of the schools.

"Police and Rangers patrolling will be made around the schools and on their routes. Some policemen in plain clothes will also be deployed there. The city government has already installed CCTV cameras. We will never compromise on the security of our school children," he assured.

The Chief Minister further said that the schools which have small or no compound wall have been asked to erect them for security reasons. "The concerned police stations would keep the record of the lower staff working in private schools for which the school administration would have to cooperate with the local police," he urged.

Responding to a question, the Chief Minister said that no security threat as such was received by any school. "However, we have taken extra ordinary measures for the security of schools. Inshallah our children will be receiving education in safe and secure atmosphere," he said.

Earlier, he visited a number schools in Lyari, Saddar and Clifton areas. The schools he visited include DCTO Government Secondary School Baghdadi, Army Public School Saddar, Links Grammar School Clifton and St. Micheal School Boat Basin.

At DCTO Baghdadi School the Chief Minister, appreciated the school administration for increasing enrolment and giving a facelift to the building.
