Bollywood iconic movie ‘Dilwale Dulhania Ly Jayengy’ starring Shahrukh Khan and Kajol in the lead roles has completed its 1000 weeks in Indian cinema. Director Aditya Chopra relives the entire journey through a book written by Nasreen Munni Kabir.
The book is a personal story of the phenomenally popular film that turned the tide of Hindi cinema in the 1990s. Chopra, who made his directorial debut with the Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol-starrer, traces the journey that led to the making of the film, read a statement. He has discussed his influences, shared insights on cinema, and provided details about how he went about making the movie that changed his life and that has now become part of the lives of audiences across generations, Indian media reported.
The movie was a huge hit at a time of its release and even now it has been running successfully in Indian cinemas. The entire cast of the movie including Shahrukh Khan, Kajol, Anupam Kher, Farida Jalal, Mandira Bedi and Pooja Rupreral has celebrated its success on popular TV show ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’ which will go on-air over this weekend.
Released in October 1995, the movie has collected over $20 million worldwide.
