imageKARACHI: Pakistan team is capable of topping formidable Australian team despite their problems in one-day series and one-off T20 match, former Pakistan captain Wasim Bari said on Sunday.

We got the problems in batting, bowling fielding. But Pakistan team had staged a grand comeback on many occasions and we are looking forward another, he told APP in an exclusive interview ahead of the first Test starting in Dubai from October 22.

He said Test match is different brand of cricket and team can stage a comeback in a longer version format. However, for achieving that objective and goals, Pakistan team must play their best cricket on all five days leaving the sore memories of one-day series loss behind them, he added.

He said left arm spinner Zulfiqar Babar and rookie leg-spinner Yasir Shah are lacking in experience. "But they can pose a threat a to Australia batting if they bowled tactically and intelligently on a turning tracks," he commented.

Zulfiqar got a rich experience of first class cricket and have already appeared at the international level. So I don’t see any problem for him, he said.

He hoped that Swabi-born Yasir Shah, who is expected to make his debut, will show his leg-spin his potential having taken 279 wickets in 79 first class games.

If spinner's duo showed their class they can disturb the Australia batsmen. He however hoped that Muhammad Talah will produce some good reverse swing.

Rahat got good out-swinger. But lacking in wicket-taking in-swingers, he commented.

He said Australian team got their own batting problem with captain Micheal Clarke is struggling with the bat in the recent past.

If our bowlers bowled well, they can keep Clarke under pressure, he maintained.

He expressed that despite Pakistan formidable challenge from dangerous left arm fast bowler Mitchell Johnson; Pakistan got good batting in Ahmed Shahzad, Taufeeq Umar, Younis Khan, Asad Shafiq and Misbah-ul-Haq to face the challenge.

He expressed his happiness that left handed opener Taufeeq has been recalled in the team after two years; in wilderness.

He said returning of form by Misbah-ul-Haq will be very important for Pakistan and he was capable of bouncing back after low-scores against Sri Lanka and Australia in last two series.
