ISLAMABAD: Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly, Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah Friday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif urging him to announce a special compensation package for deceased journalists of Balochistan killed due to terrorism.
He apprised that during his visit to Quetta on Saturday October 11, a delegation of journalists had a meeting with him in which matter regarding compensation to the Balochistan based journalist killed in target killings was discussed.
The families of the deceased deserved to be helped out because the Journalists perform their duties in a very risky and dangerous atmosphere and the services rendered by them needed to be acknowledged, he added.
Khursheed Shah said that government should compensate such journalists and it would be a good gesture in the journalist fraternity in the prevailing situation, said a press release issued here.
