It was announced lately that the movie starring Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence will get a theatrical release early next year but it will still not get any Oscar nomination.
According to foreign media reports, after an overly long period of post-production, the film has finally gotten distribution through ‘Magnolia’ and unfortunately, it won’t make the December 31st Oscar contention date.
Sources say Magnolia, whose sister company ‘2929 Productions’ financed the film, became the default distributor when no other company would take the bait. They go on to explain that in a series of private screenings for the film, viewers were disappointed with the way the film was edited, media reported.
Sources also revealed that the film was presented to distributers in three cuts and potential distributers weren’t too happy with the outcome. They said, ‘It’s a total mess and made no sense’.
It was assumed that Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper will become even bigger star after the release of ‘Serena’ but unfortunately, those expecting a third-straight year of Lawrence and Cooper on the awards circuit together will be disappointed. It will not be released for this year’s Oscar race. Magnolia has no set date, but we might see it by the first quarter of 2015.
