imagePESHAWAR: Special Advisor to the Prime Minister, Marvi Memon Tuesday said that government is facing big challenges of rehabilitating the displaced persons of North Waziristan and the victims of devastating floods in Punjab and other parts of the country.

She called upon the countrymen to get united and support the government to meet these challenges effectively and in accordance to the aspirations of masses.

She expressed these views while speaking as chief guest at a ceremony organized by FATA Research Center in connection with launching of a report on the latest situation of Displaced Persons of North Waziristan.

The ceremony was also addressed by President FATA Research Center, Dr. Ashraf Ali, Nisar Ali, President IDPs Qaumi Coommittee, Iqbal Afridi, a tribesmen and representative of KP government on IDPs.

Marvi Memon said the displaced people of NWA and other parts of FATA should not feel isolated as the who nation is standing behind them and extending support for their rehabilitation.

She said since the launching of military operation after which displacement started, government, both federal and provincial (KP and Punjab) have spent around Rs. 2.787 billion for the help of affeectees.

She said we have to turn this challenge into an opportunity by integrating the tribal population with countrymen besides developing the tribal belt.

When the IDPs will return back to their homes they will find a peaceful and developed Waziristan, she claimed.

Marvi also apprised the participants that government is concentrating on providing education to the displaced students of North Waziristan through initiation evening classes in government schools. In this regard, she continued, the teachers of North Waziristan whould also be engaged in the exercised.

The government will ensure safe and graceful return of the displaced population to their native areas, she added.

Earlier, President FRC, Dr. Ashraf Ali informed the participants of the ceremony about objectives behind preparation of report on IDPs.

He said the report, prepared by Zalan Communication, is aimed at resolving the problems of IDPs through serving as a linkage between them and government.

He explained that the Zalan Communication set up a call center to receive complaints from IDPs and the issue was forwarded to concerned quarters for forthwith redressal.

He said a total of 9645 calls were received from July 6 to August 8 2014 and callers were from Bannu, Lakki Marwat, D.I.Khan, Tank, Peshawar, and Kohat. Some calls were also received from Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Karak, Srai Naurang and Manshera.

Dr. Ashraf Ali said on the basis of complaints received by the call, a report was prepared on the plight of IDPs to highlight the problems being faced by them.

Speaking on the occasion, Nisar Ali, President IDPs Qaumi Committee highlighted the problems being faced by IDPs. He demanded of the government to ensure early return of the displaced population of FATA to their respective areas.
